In this journey that combines art and traditions, you will discover the Coast, and San Sebastian, the pride of the Spanish Basque Country!
Day 1 San Sebastian
You arrive in San Sebastian. After lunch, enjoy a guided tour of San Sebastian, on the shores of the Concha, its famous shell-shaped bay, with its promenade, gardens, and beaches, old neighborhoods … funicular which climbs to Monte Igueldo. Dinner. Accommodations.
Day 2 San Sebastian and the Basque Coast (60km)
Discover the places of exhibitions for San Sebastian Capital of Culture. On this occasion, three poles called Lighthouses were assigned and defined – the Lighthouse of Peace – living together in a cohesive society, the Lighthouse of Life – wellbeing and living well in the respect of one another; the Lighthouse of the Voice – language, the memory and legacy. Lunch in a sidreria – a cider bar. Departure for the Basque coast. Stopover in Zarautz, then carry on to Getaria. Discover this medieval town, with narrow streets leading to its picturesque harbour and beautiful beaches. Tour Txakoli and enjoy a tasting of white wine produced in the region. In order to continue the theme of regional riches, discover the famous “Pintxos” by visiting an anchovy factory. Dinner. Accommodation.
Day 3 Bilbao and the Guggenheim Museum (180 km)
Enjoy a guided day trip: Bilbao, capital of the province of Bizkaia. Take a tour of the city, with its old and picturesque districts and the famous Guggenheim Museum, the iconic building designed by architect Frank O. Gehry. Lunch . In the afternoon, pass through Guernica, the holy city of the province, to reach the Basque coast. Discover the seaside resorts of Lequeitio (Lekeitio), walk through the old city to discover the Church of the Assumption, and the fishermen’s quarter, afterwards Ondárroa and Deva (Deba), charming sites with lovely typical houses. Day 4 Pampelune (85 km)
Depart for Pampleune. An unavoidable stopover on the way to Saint Jacques de Compostela, called “Iruna” in Basque, Pamplona is a blend of tradition and dynamism. Discover the city with its ramparts and its famous Plaza de Toros, which annually hosts one of the largest Férias festival. Lunch.
