Dates
Lunch in the Thonon region. Enjoy a hike on Mont Bénan overlooking Lake Geneva on the one side and Bernex on the other. An ideal vantage point from which to learn about the flora and fauna of the region, and the lake's formation. Time also to visit Bernex, a typical local village snug at the foot of the "Dent d'Oche" peak. Dinner, and overnight in the Thonon region.
Day's hiking in the Bise mountain pastures with its huge cirque and les Cornettes peak, the highest of the Chablais hills. If you're lucky you may spot ibex and marmots in this protected natural site. Picnic lunch on the shores of a little lake. Then continue around the Pavis point and its three cols for spectacular views over Lake Geneva and the Mont Blanc Massif. Dinner and overnight.
Start from Pré-Richard, for a short hike in the forest and hills. Local style lunch, and then a meeting with a local herdsman to learn all about Abondance cheese, a fragrant raw-milk cheese produced on the very same hillside.
Drop down through the Gavot region, as far as Thonon les Bains. The picturesque little lakeside port of Rives has an interesting Fishing Museum and a meeting with some local fishermen will complete your knowledge. Lunch.
