* France - Perigord - Gourmet delights

Arrive in Souillac in time for lunch. Explore the town at your leisure making sure to visit the Roman Abbey. We visit the Roque Distillery and Museum which makes aperitifs, liqueurs and brandies, and do some tasting, then on to Martel for a guided tour of the walnut mill. Dinner and overnight.

Guided tour of Sarlat in group, capital of the "Perigord Noir", with its honey coloured houses. Traditional Perigourdin lunch. We continue along the Dordogne valley as far as the village of La Rogue Gageac, where we take a trip on the river by traditional flat-bottomed boat, the "gabarre".  Stop at the Bastide of Domme to take in the splendid  panoramic views over the valley. Dinner and overnight.

We head for Rocamadour, a village literally clinging to the cliff face, and mecca for pilgrims.  Visit a cheese dairy to sample Rocamadour cheese. Lunch of local specialities.  At the Padirac Gulf, a lift takes you 103 metres down to the bottom of this natural chasm and from there to admire the caves.  We visit a local duck  farm to learn about controlled-feeding techniques to make foie gras, followed by a tasting session. Dinner and overnight.

Direction Collonges-la-Rouge and free time for the group to wander in this absolutely charming village built using reddish-purple sandstone. Lunch follows.
