Come to visit with a group vast swathes of forest cover half of the country, and stunning glacial lakes are tucked away amidst green rolling hills and vine-covered slopes. Slovenia is famous too as the birthplace, and breeding ground, of the noble Lipizzaner horse, one of the purest thoroughbreds, favourite of the renowned Spanish Riding School and royalty alike.

Day 1 Lipica & the Slovenian Riviera

We journey to the Slovenian border in time for lunch. Afterwards we enjoy a guided tour of the Lipica stud farm, home to the noble Lipizzaner horse. You have the option of attending a magical dressage display (Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays). Dinner and overnight in the Lipica region.Group trip .

 

Day 2 the Postojna Cave (90 km)

First we have a guided tour of some of the loveliest towns on the coast : gorgeous mediaeval Piran, the cosmopolitan seaside resort town of Portoroz and charming Koper, the largest commercial port with lots of beautiful buildings in the old town. After lunch we visit the stupendous Postojna Cave : of the 27km of underground galleries we cover a small 5km section by train and foot to admire the diverse shapes and formations. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.Group trip .

Day 3 Ljubljana & the region of Bled (140 km)

Guided tour of Slovenia's wonderfully alluringly capital, Ljubljana, where Celts, Romans and Slavs have all left their mark, and pastel-coloured Baroque facades delight under the watchful eye of the hilltop castle. Lunch then free time for some shopping before carrying on to Bled. Dinner and overnight in the region of Bled.Group trip.

Day 4 Bled and Bohinj Lakes (80 km)

In the morning we have a guided excursion to the extremely beautiful Bohinj lake and enjoy a boat trip. After lunch we continue to better known Bled, and a guided tour taking in the stunning lake, in the middle of which is Slovenia's only island with its church spire pointing majestically to the heavens, and the mediaeval castle perched dramatically on a sheer cliff top on the lake shores (optional entrance). Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.Group trip.
