Verdant hillsides, scattered with gorgeous Italian villas and ornamental gardens, slope down to the emerald waters of Lake Maggiore, sitting pretty, like a jewel in a case, amidst the stunning mountain scenery.
Dates
The group arrive in the Stresa region. Dinner and overnight
A day out to the Borromean Islands with private boat transfer, including a typical local lunch. First stop Isola Bella with its stunning palace built in honour of Isabella, wife of Charles III. Then on to atmospheric "Isola dei pescatori", with its little fishing villages. A visit to the gardens on Isola Madre, with their rare plants and flowers, is an option. Return to Stresa for some time at leisure. Dinner and overnight.
A day's outing to Lake Orta with a return boat trip to the isle of San Giulio. You are free to visit the basilica. We enjoy a local style lunch at Orta before heading to Angera, and its castle enjoying a superb panorama of Lake Maggiore. Visit to a wine cellar and wine tasting. Dinner and overnight.
