Day given over to a guided tour of Budapest the Hungarian capital. Sightseeing tour of ancient Pest on the left bank of the Danube and Heroes Square, the Opera, St. Stephen’s Basilica, the Parliament Building, and the elegant Avenue Andrassy thoroughfare. Lunch then a guided visit of Buda this time, on the right bank, with the imposing Royal Castle and Gellert Hill overlooking the river and the city. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
D3 Budapest / Vienna (245 km)
Set off for Vienna. Lunch then a sightseeing tour of the city all along the Ringstrasse circular road, taking in sights including the Opera, the Fine Arts Museum, the Hofburg Palace, the United Nations Office, the Hundertwasser House, and the Prater Park. D4 Vienna and the Schonbrunn Palace
Continue your guided tour of Vienna on foot, in the heart of the capital where you can find the gothic Cathedral of St. Stephen and the Capuchin or Imperial Crypt where the Habsburg dynasty are buried. Lunch then a guided tour of Schonbrunn Palace, a Viennese Versailles. This former summer residence of the Habsburg monarchs features Rococo architecture and lavish decoration that bear the mark of Marie-Thérèse, François-Joseph and Sissi. Enjoy strolling in the beautiful and extensive grounds. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
D5 Vienna / Prague (295 km)
Leave for Prague. Lunch en route. Guided tour of the old town and monuments such as the Stare Mesto Square, the heart of the city, the Old Town Hall and the Astronomical Clock, the Powder Tower Gate and the inimitable Charles Bridge. Check-in to your 3* hotel in Prague. Dinner and overnight.
Day 6 Prague: Hradcany and Mala Strana districts
Begin your day in the Hradcany district with its enormous castle, emblem of the Czech Republic, lying on a rocky spur above the River Vlatva. The Cathedral St. Vitus within the castle walls is the country’s most important. Visit the Royal Palace, the Romanesque style St-George’s Basilica, and the Cathedral of St. Vitus. Lunch then continue your guided tour in the baroque Mala Strana district, home to a number of Czech state offices and many foreign embassies. Visit the Wallenstein Garden and the Church of St Nicolas. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

D9 Warsaw and Lazienki Palace
Guided tour of Warsaw. Much of the city suffered extensive damage in WW2 but has been painstakingly rebuilt faithful to the original, to the extent that it has been awarded World Heritage status by UNESCO. Lunch. In the afternoon visit the Lazienki Palace, the “Palace on the Water”, built on an artificial island in the historical Royal Baths Park. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
D10 Warsaw / Vilnius (440 km)

Continue on foot in the historic town centre with monuments such as St. Peter’s Church and its 72m tower, the huge Dome Cathedral, Saint James’ Roman Catholic Church, one of Riga’s oldest, the Swedish Gate, the ‘Three Brothers’ old stone houses and the House of Blackheads. Continue to Tallinn and check-in to your 3* hotel. Dinner and overnight.
D13 Tallinn and the Rocca al Mare Museum
Guided tour of the lovely mediaeval town centre of Tallinn. Major attractions include Fat Margaret’s Tower, the city’s tallest, Toompea Hill and Toompea Castle, home to the Estonian Parliament, the onion-domed Russian Orthodox Cathedral of Alexander Nevsky, the Lutheranian Church of the Dome, the market square with the gothic style Town Hall and Saint Nicholas’ Church. Lunch then excursion to the Rocca al Mare open air museum beside the sea in the bay of Kopli, and its unique collection of traditional 18th and 19th century Estonian buildings; farms, taverns, mills, and chapels . Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

A guided day tour of St. Petersburg taking in the Smolny Cathedral and ensemble of buildings, the famous Nevsky Prospekt avenue with its fine architecture, Basil Island, Peter and Paul Fortress overlooking the River Neva and the Cathedral where all the Russian Tsars are buried. Lunch in town, then visit the Pavlovsk Palace, a gift from Catherine II to her son Paul 1st. Largely destroyed during the war, it has since been entirely rebuilt. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
