Group arrival in Strasbourg. Airport welcome by your driver then transfer to the Hotel in the region. Dinner and overnight.
The sculpted facades and astrological clock draw throngs to Strasbourg’s Gothic Cathedral, a glorious monument from the Middle Ages. Free time for lunch. Commentated cruise along the city’s canals, then time at leisure to stroll in the “Petite France” district. Dinner and overnight.
Discover one of the region’s culinary specialities, “kougelhopf” cake, a sort of brioche with raisins, and traditional cake-making techniques. Free time for lunch. Commentated visit of the Molsheim wine estate, followed by a wine- tasting session. After that you will discover the wine road through many villages - Kaysersberg, Mittelwihr, Riquewihr, Ribeauvillé... Dinner and overnight.
You will discover the medieval city Obernai, which located close to the mont Ste Odile. After that you will visit the Museum of gingerbread with its bread-baking and degustation. Free time for lunch. Continue to Colmar. Visit of the old town with its half-timbered houses. Dinner and overnight.
Our route takes us via Munster and the Schlucht pass to Gérardmer. Time at your leisure. We carry on to Hohneck where we learn how the famous Munster cheese is made, then free time for lunch. We drive across the mountain crests ans the col of Bonhomme. Chek-in to your hotel in the region of St Dié/ Epinal. Dinner. Overnight.
You will visit the House of Lace in Mirecourt. Then you continue to Epinal. Free time for lunch. The “Imagerie” tells the town’s history of picture-making. Illustrations and images were sold much as newspapers, and the tradition is alive even today. Designs and drawings from over two centuries, and the techniques used to produce them, can be admired here. Dinner and overnight
Begin the day at a brewery, and taste some of the local beer. Guided tour of Nancy, the Golden town, taking in the impressive Stanislas Square, the old town, and also the Art Nouveau style town houses. Free time for lunch. Continue to Commercy, which had its heyday in the 18th century; a favourite with art and history fans but better known for its cakes! The small, buttery shell-shaped cakes or “madeleines” are a local speciality; visit a cake maker’s for tasting. Dinner and overnight.
Tour of Verdun, and its underground stronghold of some 7 kms of tunnels, home to over 10,000 men during the famous World War 1 battle. Free time for lunch. Then on to visit Metz. Guided tour by Tourist Train, then visit the imposing Gothic Cathedral of St Etienne. Grown in Nancy and in Metz is the small, sweet, dark yellow Mirabelle plum. Take a guided tour of a Mirabelle distillery making a variety of alcoholic beverages followed by a tasting session. Dinner and overnight.
In Marmoutier, visit a potter’s workshop. Continue via the Dabo Rock, a red sandstone chunk sheltering the statue of Pope Leon IX. Stop at a crystal workshop. Free time for lunch. Continue to Strasbourg. Dinner and overnight.
