There’s no better way to see Switzerland and her fabulous Alpine scenery than by train. Arrive at Geneva Airport where you will be welcomed by your English-speaking local Tour Guide, and join your local coach. Check-in to 3 star hotel in the region of Bex-Martigny. Dinner and overnight.
Make for Täsch where you board the cog railway up to Zermatt. Time to explore the alpine resort nestling at the foot of the mighty Matterhorn (4,478m) with its unmistakeable chipped pyramid form. Lunch at your leisure before the return train trip to Täsch in the afternoon. Settle in to your 3* hotel in the Brig region. Dinner and overnight.
Leave for Andermatt via Gletsch and the Furka Col (2,431m) with its breathtaking views over the Rhone Glacier and the Bernese Oberland peaks. Continue from Andermatt to Chur aboard the famous Glacier Express train, and enjoy the stunning scenery, climbing to the Oberalp col (2,033 m) with the help of a cogwheel section. You are free to take lunch on board before arriving at Chur, one of Switzerland’s oldest towns. Free time to explore, and admire the pretty fountained squares and solid, turreted townhouses. Continue to the Grisons region and one of the most famous resorts in the Swiss Alps: Davos. Check-in to 3*hotel in the Davos region. Dinner and overnight.
Journey from Davos to Poschiavo aboard the Bernina Express, winding dramatically through the sheer slopes and viaducts of the Engadine Valley and over the Bernina Pass. Lunch at your leisure then on to the internationally renowned jet set resort of St Moritz, and free time to explore one of Switzerland’s top Alpine centres. Check-in to your 3* hotel in the region of Chur. Dinner and overnight.
Set off for Interlaken via the charming lakeside town of Lucerne and the Lake of the Four Cantons. Free time for lunch before an excursion to the resort of Grindelwald, where the green valley floor is dotted with picture-book wooden chalets, nestling beneath the towering rocky crag of the Wetterhorn, and the Alpine giant of the Eiger. Time at leisure before continuing along the picturesque lake shores to Thun. Check-in to your 3* hotel in the Thun region. Dinner and overnight.
Destination Zurich where you are free for lunch before a guided tour of the mediaeval old town and its wealth of historic monuments : the old Shipfe district along the river, the Grossmunster, or Great Minster, founded by Charlemagne, whose gigantic twin towers dominate the skyline, and the Fraumünster church with its beautiful stained glass by Marc Chagall. Check-in to your 3* hotel in the Zurich region. Dinner and overnight.
Free morning to explore Zurich. Lunch at your leisure then a cruise on the lake as far as Rapperswil, city of roses. Roses of all colours decorate the town’s public areas and three rose gardens as well as taking pride of place on the town’s coat of arms. Guided tour of the mediaeval upper town with its huge castle towering over the lake. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Guided tour of Lucerne old town, with its picturesque cobbled streets and famous wooden Chapel Bridge, the Kapellbrücke. Lunch then on to Mount Rigi, known as the Queen of the Swiss Mountains, soaring above Lucerne and the Lake of the Four Cantons. Rack-railway ride up to the summit, Rigi Kulm, from where there’s a grandiose panorama over the Swiss Alps, meadows and some 13 lakes. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Free morning to enjoy Zurich, or perhaps do some shopping along the Bahnhofstrasse, one of Europe’s most prestigious and expensive shopping streets. Transfer to Zurich airport. End of coach and Tour Guide services.
