Dates
Lunch in Naples to sample the pizza "Margherita", quintessential Napolitan fare! Guided tour of the town and its hidden treasures: the Plebiscite Square, Royal Palace and Castel Nuovo. On then to Sorrento and a welcome drink in the form of a "limoncello", the locally produced lemon liqueur. Dinner and overnight in the region of Sorrento.
Direction Gragnano, home of the humble pasta for some 500 years thanks to numerous springs in the surrounding countryside powering the corn grinding mills. Visit a Pasta Factory and take a cookery lesson based on "Maccheroni". Then sample your creations at lunchtime. On to Salerno to visit a Buffalo Farm and learn all about Mozzarella production, followed by a tasting session. Mediterranean Fish supper. An evening Tarantella Show, the local traditional dance, is an optional extra. Overnight.
Head for Vesuvius and an altitude of some 1000 metres, then continue by foot up the volcano sides to the top of the crater from where there's a stunning panorama over the Bay of Naples. After your descent, time to visit a local wine cellar to taste the famous Lacryma Christi wine. Lunch follows.
