Arrive in the region of Dunkirk in time for dinner and overnight. Group trip.
D2 Opal Coast (170 km)
In Grand-Fort-Philippe visit the Maritime History and Lifeboat Centre to learn all about the region’s watery past, including the days of fishing in Iceland. Continue to a traditional fish smoking factory and taste the goods. After lunch journey along the Opal coast, past the massive cliffs of Blanc-Nez and Gris-Nez, and fishing villages such as Wissant and Ambleteuse.. Stop at Boulogne-sur-Mer, a major commercial fishing port with an ancient citadel and well preserved ramparts. Dinner and overnight.bus trip
D3 The Ch’ti Tour (140 km)
Director Dany Boon’s comedy film featuring the region and the “Ch’tis”, or locals, became a massive box office hit in France, rendering the north and its local inhabitants immensely popular. Filmed partly in the village of Bergues, enjoy a guided tour of the town with its belfry, ramparts and canals. Lunch featuring a menu of local specialities. On then to one time linen capital Armentieres on the banks of the Lys river, boasting a superb Flemish-Renaissance style Town Hall and fabulous belfry, listed by Unesco. Visit a waffle manufacturer and sample the goods. Dinner and overnight.
