D1 Lyon : From Fourvière to Lyon Old Town
Arrive in Lyon. Guided sight-seeing tour of the old Gaul capital, from the Fourvière hill to the Renaissance town. Dinner. Board in Lyon.
D2 The Swiss Riviera (210 km)
Guided tour of Geneva, the ‘Swiss Riviera’ stretching along Lake Léman’s shores, the old town and the United Nations headquarters. Free time for lunch. Guided sight-seeing tour of Lausanne, departing from the charming port of Ouchy. Optional boat cruise on Lake Léman. Dinner. Board in the Lausanne area.
D3 Bern and Interlaken (160 km)
Guided tour of Bern : the cathedral, the clock tower, the bear pit, the Aar, and the arcades. Free time for lunch. Set off for Interlaken along the shores of Lake Thun. Guided tour of Interlaken upon arrival : the Höheweg promenade, nestled between the Höhematte massifs and luxury hotels and casinos. Dinner. Board in the Interlaken area.
D4 The Trümmelbach Falls and Lucerne (90 km)
Cross the Lauterbrunen valley for a spectacular trip to the Trümmelbach falls. In Lauterbrunen, hop aboard a train to Kleine Scheidegg (2,061m) and feast your eyes on the marvellous Jungfrau massif. Free time for lunch. Set off to Lucerne. Guided tour through the picturesque streets of the old medieval town and the famous Kappelbrücke bridge. Dinner. Board in the Lucerne area.
D5 The Glacier Express and Zurich (285 km)
Depart for Andermatt. “Glacier Express” rack railway train trip from Andermat to Chur, winding through the Oberalp Pass (2,033m). Free time for lunch. Continue on to Zurich. Guided tour of Zurich and its abundance of historic treasures : the Schipfe quarter, Grossmünster and the Charlemagne Tower, Fraumünster and Marc Chagall’s stained glass windows. Dinner. Board in the Zurich area.
D6 The Rhine Falls and Lake Constance (340 km)
Explore Europe’s most powerful waterfalls : the Rhine Falls, measuring 150m wide and plunging down over 20m. Optional boat cruise. Head to Stein am Rhein for a tour of this picturesque town with its beautiful half-timbered houses and painted facades. Free time for lunch in Constance, followed by time in which to explore the town for yourself. Hugging the banks of Lake Constance, head to Innsbruck for dinner and board in the area.
D7 Innsbruck, the Secrets of Crystal and the Krimml Falls (240 km)
Guided tour of the Tyrolean capital of Innsbruck and its renowned Golden Roof. Tour of the Swarovski Crystal World in Wattens. Set off along the panoramic route to Salzburg via the Gerlos Pass. Stop off at Europe’s highest waterfalls, the Krimml Falls. Free time for lunch. Visit one of the Austrian Alp’s oldest resorts, Kitzbühel. Dinner. Board in the Salzburg area.
D8 Salzburg and the Lake District (70 km)
Guided tour of Salzburg, once home to Mozart. Free time for lunch. Head on the Salzkammergut lake district and enjoy some free time in St Wolfgang. Boat cruise along the lake to St Gilgen. Explore the town and its sweeping views across the lake district. Dinner. Board in Salzburg.
D9 The Grossglockner and Cortina d’Ampezzo (265 km)
Discover the famous Grossglockner alpine road (May to Oct). The highest peak of the Austrian Alps at 3,797m, the Grossglockner can be seen from the Franz-Josephs Höhe terrace (2.369m), towering over the dazzling Pasterze glacier that huddles at its foot. Free time for lunch. Cross the Dolomites Park to Cortina d’Ampezzo for dinner and board in the area.
D10 The Dolomites and Verona (300 km)
Cross the Dolomites massif via the Campolongo Pass (1,875m). Canazei, the Costalunga Pass, Lake Carezza and Val d’Ega. In the grape-growing region of Valpolicella, enjoy a tour of a wine cellar and tasting session. Free time for lunch. Guided tour of Verona. Optional trip to Juliet’s House during this turnkey trip. D11 The Italian Lakes – from Garda to Como (315 km)
Depart for Lake Garda. Guided tour of Sirmione : the Scaliger fortress, the frescos at the S. Maria Maggiore church, the “Grotte di Catullo”. Continue on towards Como. Free time for lunch. D12 Aosta Valley and Mont Blanc (365 km)
Set off for Chamonix via the Aosta Valley – a wonderfully beautiful route that showcases the heady heights of the Alps : Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa and the Matterhorn. Free time for lunch.
