Lunch in Bordeaux. Guided tour of France’s wine capital with its rich architectural heritage including the Grand Theatre, Quinconces Square, and the Tourny Avenues. Dinner and overnight.
D2 Cruise on the Arcachon Basin (140 km)
The seaside resort of Arcachon enjoyed its heyday in the 19th century and you can enjoy a guided tour by tourist train. On to the Dune de Pilat, Europe’s highest sand dune. Lunch, then a cruise on the Arcachon Basin taking in Bird Island, and its unique style fishing huts, or “cabanes tchanquées”, raised high on stilts. Dinner and overnight.
D3 St Emilion Vineyards (40 km)
Free time to explore the gorgeous mediaeval village of St Emilion. Take a tourist train ride through the vineyards then do some tasting in one of the underground wine cellars, hewn out of the rock. Lunch.
